wiaw: change of pace {giveaway}

I was feeling a little crazy a few days ago.  I was feeling the need to change things up.  Life’s been busy and throwing us curve balls left and right, and a bit of a change to my meals was just what I needed.


My morning started bright and early with a trip the gym for a CrossFit workout.  Typically, I don’t eat anything before going to the gym, but I was recently sent some FrogFuel Protein Shots and decided to fuel up with one of those.


The flavor takes some getting used to and the texture is nothing like Gu, which is a good thing for me.  It went down fairly easily and for once I didn’t feel like I was going to pass out during CrossFit and really pushed myself to lift heavier.  I ended up doing 5 sets of 3 reps of 115 pound back squat, and 45 reps of a 115 pound deadlift.

While I still had my normal smoothie for breakfast, I decided it needed a little jazzing up.  Instead of using milk for my liquid, I used a Designer Whey chocolate protein drink, and added some peanut butter in with bananas, strawberries, chia seeds, and spinach.  It. Was. Delicious!

I was supposed to do an easy 30 minute run, but changed that up a bit too and did my Speed Hill workout, which kicked my butt.  I was happy that I was running with the cross country team so I had some people to chase down and keep me occupied while I ran.

After running, instead of my normal fruit and yogurt snack, I decided White Chocolate Wonderful on a banana sounded much more delicious!  It was.

I kicked my normal lunch salad up a notch with the addition of one of How Sweet Eats’ buffalo quinoa burgers and some extra buffalo wing sauce as dressing.  Also included were tomatoes, broccoli, avocado, cheddar, and sunflower seeds.  My lips were on fire by the end of my salad, but it was so worth it.

And our normal weekly pizza night got a change of pace as well.  Matt actually forgot it was pizza night (we had to change it from our normal Friday meal), but luckily I had a Group that was expiring that day for one of our absolute favorite pizza places in town.  A Better Pizza simply is that – a better pizza.  I love St. Louis style pizza (even the provel cheese), but their Chicago style pizza is absolutely to die for.

Um, yum?!  I could eat this every single night and never get sick of it!
