#1:  I am actually enjoying running on the treadmill.  I know, right?  (Or as I heard a student say yesterday, “IKR!”)  I am so happy the weather is getting warmer so I can run outside, but I really have enjoyed controlling my paces and watching mindless TV while I run.  I think I zone out so much better when I’m on the treadmill.  Outside, I get totally caught up in my thoughts, which isn’t always a good thing.  Plus, I am finding the treadmill to be easier.  But, I am seeing how much I need some hills in my life.

#2:  I haven’t been hitting my training paces.  So, one of the bad things about the treadmill is that I know exactly what I’m running.  And lately, it hasn’t been the pace that I should be running.  I know that I probably can physically, but mentally, I just haven’t had it in me.  I’m working on it though.

#3:  I actually don’t like racing.  *gasp*  I know.  Part of it is again the mental thing, but sometimes I just don’t feel like it’s worth it to wake up early on the weekend to pretty much pay to run for 20 minutes.  Half marathons are a little bit better, but the ones I run I usually have to go downtown just to pick up my packet.  I love being able to test my ability, but I don’t know if the cost is always worth it.

#4:  I really want a running buddy that will get up early to run with me.  I am a very independent person so I’ve always enjoyed running alone.  But lately, I’ve felt like I need the extra push from someone to run with.  I won’t lie – I’m the most boring person to run with because I am terrible at holding a conversation (unless you’re my mom or my BFFs), but it would be nice to have someone to keep me accountable at 4 AM.  I envy the other women at the gym at 4 AM who meet every morning.  I would love to have that too!

#5:  I don’t wear typical running clothes.  I own dry fit shirts, running tights, and some specialized socks, but I typically run in cotton t-shirts and socks.  And yes, I do chafe and get blisters, but only when I run more than 6 miles, which isn’t very often.  I’m mostly just too cheap and lazy to buy good running clothes and wash something extra when I can just wear a t-shirt that I wore to work the day before.  Saves time AND money! 😉
