First of all, I’m sorry I didn’t have more recipes to share this week. As I will explain in this post, I have been unusually busy the past few weeks, so I haven’t had a lot of time to develop some new recipes. (Although I did have a complete and utter baking failure on Saturday.) But, I promise to have more recipes in the coming weeks… well, hopefully.
Lately I have been having a difficult time trying to fit my workouts in. I have talked before about how I have been converted into an afternoon runner, but afternoons have been hard to come by the past few weeks. With Girls on the Run (GOTR) Monday and Wednesday afternoons, church choir rehearsals and “performances”, dropping off and picking up a bunch of different things, plans with friends, etc., by the time I get home, it’s close to 6 o’clock and dinner time. And once I eat dinner, I’m done for the night. Good luck trying to peel me off the couch for a run… it just ain’t happenin’.
I typically run 5 days a week, more for my sanity than anything else. It’s stress relieving to me and I feel like I physically need it in my life. (This is also known as an addiction.) Before the busy-ness ensued, I would run Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. However, with GOTR on Wednesdays, I would be exhausted by the end and not get my run in (I don’t normally run with the girls since there are things to hand out and girls to keep an eye on).
So, that left Friday. Don’t get me wrong, I normally have time on Fridays to run, but who wants to run on Friday afternoon?! I just want to come home and crash usually. (Or get some frozen custard, of course.)
Don’t get me wrong, I know I don’t have to run 5 days a week, especially since I am currently not training for anything. But, I enjoy it and LOVE doing it and want to get those 5 runs in. I could run in the mornings on the treadmill (I have a fear of running in the dark, but that’s a different post), but that is normally my weight lifting time a few days each week. And lifting weights is the other thing I love.
So, I’m trying to find that balance between busy afternoons and getting my workouts in. Guaranteed, the workouts are the first thing to go, but I’m trying to avoid as much as possible. I try to plan out when my workouts will be each week (using my Google Calendar) to see what days and times work best with my now busier schedule.
So far, I haven’t found the perfect balance yet, but I’m still working on it. Luckily, there are only 6 weeks left of school, making it much easier for me to get things done on MY time.
