Thank you so much for stopping by and sticking around to read a little bit more about me! The Concrete Runner is more than just a blog about running and frozen custard – it’s also about my life experiences as a working mom and how to balance an active and healthy lifestyle around a very busy schedule.
I am middle school physical education teacher, high school volleyball coach, and am also a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). While I love being active in general, running is my “drug” of choice. I am a competitive runner who focuses mainly on racing short distances (specifically, the 5K), but I also occasionally train for longer races, like half and full marathons. I’ve run 2 full marathons and would love to eventually attempt to qualify for Boston, but I’m too content with shorter distances. I have also trained for and completed one triathlon and am hoping to train for more in the future.
Even though I absolutely love to run, my life revolves around my family. I have been happily married to my husband Matt for ~7 years, who is my coach, soul mate, and most importantly, my best friend. We met while working at a local frozen custard stand and our love for frozen custard (and each other) has blossomed from there. We are the parents of a wonderfully rambunctious toddler, MacKenna, who is the light of my life. MacKenna keeps me on my toes and challenges me more than I ever thought possible, but it is worth every single second. She is the best decision I have ever made!
